The Dancers Company - Life on Tour

The Dancers Company - Life on Tour

The Dancers Company was formed in 1980 and each year since, in their final of training at the School, Level 8 students are employed by The Australian Ballet to tour regional areas of Australia. This is such an amazing opportunity, not only to experience what it is like to be in a professional ballet company, dancing numerous performances and touring, all the while supporting them to develop their technical ability, stamina, artistry and stagecraft.

Alumna Gabrielle Davidson (1990)

Alumna Gabrielle Davidson (1990)

Following her training at the School, Gabrielle Davidson joined The Australian Ballet. Some of her career highlights include Maina Gielgud’s Sleeping Beauty- Bluebird and Lilac Fairy, Giselle- Peasant Pas de Deux, Lead willi, Stanton Welch’s Madam Butterfly- Suzuki, Divergence and A Time to Dance.

Alumna Kirby Selchow (2013)

Born in Perth, Kirby trained at the Graduate College of Dance before being accepted into The Australian Ballet School in 2009. After graduating from the School in 2013, Kirby joined the Royal New Zealand Ballet and has toured extensively with the company including America, UK, Italy and Hong Kong.

Alumna Nikki Blain (2012)

Nikki Blain (pictured left) is a corps de ballet dancer with West Australian Ballet. Born in Brisbane, Nikki trained with Nicole Marshman before moving to Melbourne to join The Australian Ballet School full-time at the age of 14. After graduating from The Australian Ballet School with a Vocational Graduate Diploma in Classical Ballet, Nikki joined the National Ballet of Canada.

Alumnus Jack Lister (2012)

Alumnus Jack Lister (2012)

Following his training at the ABS, Jack Lister joined Queensland Ballet in 2014 where he danced many featured roles. After creating his first ballet for QB in 2015, Jack quickly established a name as a respected emerging choreographer and has created a new work for QB’s annual program each year since. Most recently, Jack’s B-SIDES created for Queensland Ballet’s 2018 Bespoke season was met with audience and critical acclaim, recognised in The Australian as “a young choreographer who is going places.” In 2019, Jack will work with the Birmingham Royal Ballet on a new world premiere work to be performed across various venues in the UK, including Sadler's Wells. Jack has also been selected as finalist in the Beijing International Ballet and Choreography Competition, where he will present two of his works.
