Recently, The Australian Ballet School farewelled its esteemed Chair of the Board, Sarah Matheson AM, as she retired from her role. Her leadership, dedication, and unwavering support have left an indelible mark on the School’s legacy.
Sarah was appointed to the Board in 2005. For the past 20 years, she has generously volunteered her time and expertise to support the governance of The Australian Ballet School. The role of a Board Chair is both significant and demanding, requiring leadership, advocacy, and a strong focus on governance. Sarah has exemplified these qualities with grace and dedication. She helped us navigate the pandemic, supported an organisational review, secured significant uplifts in government funding, and facilitated the acquisition of additional office space within the Primrose Potter Australian Ballet Centre, as well as the recent refurbishment of facilities.
In addition to her contribution as a Director and Chair, Sarah also expresses her enduring love for the School, our students, and our future as a generous donor.
Sarah said “To serve on the Board of The Australian Ballet School has been an immense privilege. My deep gratitude and thanks to the talented and dedicated directors and senior management with whom I’ve had the pleasure to work. Forever in my heart, I look forward to watching the continued success of the School as it shapes the future of dance in Australia and beyond.”
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Sarah for her extraordinary leadership and unwavering support over the past two decades.
