ITP Intensive Training Programme

The recent July school holidays have seen the School’s studios abuzz with activity!

Our annual all-male ITP (Intra/Interstate & International Training Programme) Intensive Training Session kicked off with 63 boys ranging in age from 9-14 years coming from all across Australia as well as New Zealand. It is really special and important to us to nurture, encourage and inspire young male dancers and offer opportunities where boys can learn and share in an environment with others who share their interest in ballet. The boys also had the chance to be taught Classical by our male artistic teachers, Simon Dow, Sergey Konstantinov and Jiayin Du as well as enjoy contemporary, strength and conditioning, character and performance psychology classes.

The following week saw 120 female ITP students join us in Melbourne for a similar opportunity with some of our female artistic staff, Sabrina Lenzi, Christine Vavladellis and Rachel Rawlins. The students’ energy and excitement was infectious, with many of the students visiting The Australian Ballet School for the very first time. Our ITP has been running for almost twenty years and it is a valuable way for prospective young dancers to learn more about our national school and training programme as well as for the School to offer an adjunct and extension to the great training that students are receiving around Australasia.
