Meet Darcy Donoghue, one of our 2026 Level 8 Students!
Darcy was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, and began his journey choreographing dances in the living room with his two older sisters. He first trained at Toepaz Dance Academy until he auditioned for the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School in 2020. Darcy went on to train at VCASS for 5 years before auditioning and accepting a place at the Australian Ballet School for 2025.
Darcy is drawn to the playfulness of live performance and enjoys the feeling of engaging with the audience and his peers on stage. Since joining the school, Darcy has had the privilege of performing in works such as Scotch Symphony by George Balanchine and the principal role of Concerto Anniversary by Lucas Jervies.
Now in his graduate year, he had the opportunity to join the Australian Ballet for their Sydney season of Romeo and Juliet. He is also excited to perform in the Australian Ballet's upcoming national tour, appearing in excerpts from the Nutcracker and a new work by Stephanie Lake.
On his days off, Darcy enjoys spending time with his family and golden retriever Gus; he loves trying new cafes and walking the trails of the sanctuary near his house.
