The Australian Ballet School is delighted to announce the appointment of Sarah Hunt as its new Executive Director, commencing 21 July 2025.

Sarah Hunt brings over 25 years of experience leading teams and optimising operational performance in the creative industries across Australia and the UK. For the past five years, she has served as Chief Executive Officer of The National in Melbourne, where she oversaw the operations of an 800-seat theatre and a Registered Training Organisation, including The National Drama School and The National Ballet School. Sarah has also held leadership roles at Arts Centre Melbourne and Bangarra Dance Theatre.

About Sarah Hunt

Sarah Hunt brings over 25 years of experience leading teams through change, successfully achieving revenue growth, enhancing customer experience, and optimising operational performance in the creative industries in both Australia and the UK. Her expertise spans marketing, communications, philanthropy, innovation, and audience experience.

After graduating from the University of London, Sarah worked in London’s live performing arts sector until 2013, including roles at The National Theatre of Great Britain and the Donmar Warehouse. Since 2013, she has held leadership roles in Melbourne and Sydney, including on the executive team at Arts Centre Melbourne. From 2018 to March 2020, she worked for Bangarra Dance Theatre as Development and Marketing Director during a period of significant organisational change. Since 2020, she has served as Chief Executive Officer for The National in Melbourne.
