We returned to the stage this May with our much-loved Morning Melodies season, presenting En Pointe — a beautifully curated program of classical and contemporary works that celebrated the exceptional talent of our students.
The performance opened with A Dream Story, a surreal and poetic exploration of sleep and dreams, choreographed by Lucas Jervies and performed by our Level 8 students.

This was followed by Lyra, Prue Lang’s debut work for The Australian Ballet School. In this bold and modern piece, our Level 7 students showcased their versatility through striking contemporary choreography.

Hopak, performed by our Level 6 students, exploded onto the stage in a joyful and energetic tribute to Ukrainian folk traditions — a highlight full of cultural vibrancy and athleticism.

Echoes in Motion, a new work by Kevin Jackson, offered a poignant and powerful reflection on the heritage of ballet. Performed by our Level 7 and 8 male students, this piece stood as a moving tribute to those who have shaped the art form.

The program concluded with Shades from La Bayadère, in which our Level 7 and 8 female students captured the ethereal harmony and classical elegance of the iconic Kingdom of the Shades scene — a fitting finale to a remarkable performance.

En Pointe was performed at the Clocktower Centre, Moonee Ponds, on Tuesday 6 May, and at Arts Centre Melbourne, Hamer Hall, on Tuesday 13 May. The one-hour program, presented without an interval, reflected the extraordinary breadth of skill and artistry within the School.
This program will be presented again in August as part of The Australian Ballet School – En Pointe at The Round, Nunawading. Tickets are on sale now at The Round box office.
