Meet Thomas Stevens

Meet Thomas Stevens, one of our 2026 Level 8 students!

Thomas was born in Yarraville, Victoria, but when he was three, he moved to Ballarat, where he discovered his love for performing. He started dancing at seven years of age when he demanded he start classes after watching his twin sister’s concert. Following seven years dancing at the Academy of Classical Ballet, he started studying full-time at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School.

In 2023 he started his full-time training in Level 6 at The Australian Ballet School. During his time at the school Thomas has had the privilege of performing at the Sydney Opera House in The Australian Ballet School’s 60th Anniversary Gala, as well as working under choreographers such as Stephen Baynes, Paul Knobloch, Prue Lang and Kevin Jackson. Some of his highlights include performing in Rudolf Nureyev’s “Don Quixote” and George Balanchine’s “Scotch Symphony”.

In Level 7, Thomas was offered a secondment to Sydney Dance Company, marking one of his most memorable experiences at his time at the school. Being able to explore different movement qualities as well as a glimpse into company life peaked interest in the lifestyle of a professional dancer.

Showcasing vulnerability and human emotion is what Thomas enjoys the most about dancing, whether that be ballet or any other style of dance, he prides himself on being a versatile dancer. In his spare time Thomas likes to sew, and crochet whilst blasting Chappell Roan, Lady Gaga and of course, Beyoncé.
