Meet Amelie Wheeler, one of our 2026 Level 8 students!
Amelie was born in Melbourne and began dancing with her twin sister, Siena at the age of two. Training in various dance styles at Christa Cameron School of Ballet, Amelie found her passion for classical ballet. In 2022, at the age of 14, Amelie commenced her full-time training in Level 4 at The Australian Ballet School. During her time at the school she has had the pleasure of working with a plethora of choreographers.
Some highlights have been performing the Degas Statue in Paul Knobloch’s Degas Dances, the principal pas de deux in Stephen Baynes’ Serenata and an excerpt from La Bayadère, Kingdom of the Shades, restaged by The Australian Ballet School. At the end of 2025 Amelie was proud to be awarded the Level 7 Encouragement Award.
At the beginning of Level 8, Amelie was seconded to perform in The Australian Ballet's season of Signature Works. Travelling to Horsham for Ballet Under the Stars and a weekend at the Regent theatre, Amelie performed La Bayadère Kingdom of the Shades and George Balanchine’s Ballet Imperial. Throughout her secondment she learned many valuable skills that she will take into her professional career.
Amelie is extremely excited to see what the rest of her graduate year will bring and all the performance opportunities ahead. Amelie is particularly looking forward to the National Tour with The Australian Ballet, as it gives the graduates the opportunity to perform for a range of different audiences from all around Australia.
Outside of the studio, Amelie enjoys going walking, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
