Welcome from The Director
I joined The Australian Ballet School in 1978 and after graduation went on to dance as a Principal Artist with The Australian Ballet and as Senior Principal with the English National Ballet. Now, after many years committed to vocational education and training, I am thrilled to lead the School into the future, following in the footsteps of the three visionary leaders who came before me. For fifty years The Australian Ballet School has produced dancers of the highest calibre for our parent company, The Australian Ballet, state companies and leading dance companies throughout the world.
The School offers an exciting, unique and creatively driven eight-year programme that provides the very best in vocational and educational training. Our holistic approach ensures all students have a broad-based, comprehensive education, which equips them to pursue vocations, not only in dance and the allied arts, but in areas outside dance. Student Health and well-being continues to be an important part of the School and with the School’s values of ‘nurturing, creativity, artistic expression and passion’ at the fore of our actions, we strive to provide an environment that supports students aspirations, when they move to Melbourne to follow their dream.
I look forward to a future of excellence and artistry for our hard working and talented students as we continue to enhance our training programme and strive to advance the art of ballet in Australia.
Honour the past, achieve in the present, create the future.
